The Preschool Vibes Assessment System V2 was created for real preschool classrooms where assessment needs to be useful, manageable, and connected to instruction.

Instead of trying to assess every possible standard or collect endless documentation, this system focuses on practical information you can actually use. It helps you quickly see where each child is starting, what skills are emerging, and what goals make sense next.

This system is not meant to be a mastery checklist, grading system, or replacement for any required state, district, or curriculum assessment. It is designed to help you collect meaningful baseline data, track growth across the year, and make instructional decisions that support each child’s next steps.

How to Use

Start by using the Preschool Vibes Assessment pages to assess students one-on-one. The assessment covers foundational preschool skills such as colors, shapes, numbers, counting, uppercase and lowercase letters, letter sounds, name writing, pencil grasp, self-portrait development, and social-emotional skills.

Record student data on the Preschool Vibes Assessment Checklist so you can track fall, winter, and spring growth in one organized place.

After completing the assessment, choose 2–3 meaningful growth goals for each child. These goals should focus on the most appropriate next steps, starting with foundational skills before moving into more advanced skills.

Use the Individual Growth Goals sheet for parent communication and the Class Growth Goals Chart to organize students with similar goals into quick, intentional small groups.

After the second assessment window, use the Mid-Year Assessment Check-In to give families a clear snapshot of progress. At the end of the year, use the Student Transition Form to summarize final assessment information, strengths, areas still developing, and helpful notes for the next classroom or kindergarten team.
