Description
I Spy Letters - Capitals gives preschoolers a fun, interactive way to practice capital letter recognition.
Each page features a central prompt, such as “I spy the letter A,” surrounded by circles filled with a mix of letters. Students search for the target letter, cover it, color it, or mark it while practicing the letter name and sound.
This resource is flexible enough to use with magnetic bingo chips, pom-poms, mini erasers, manipulatives, tweezers, crayons, markers, or other classroom materials. It works well at a multisensory letter table, during small group instruction, in literacy centers, or as a focused alphabet review activity.
What’s Inside
This resource includes:
26 capital alphabet pages
One page for each capital letter
A central “I spy the letter…” prompt on each page
Circles filled with a mix of letters
16 instances of the featured target letter on each page
One of each other letter on each page for added visual discrimination
Targeted capital letter practice for A-Z
How to Use
Choose the capital letter page you want students to practice.
Students look at the target letter in the center of the page.
Then they search the page and find each matching capital letter.
Students can cover, mark, or color the target letters using different materials and activity options.
Ways to use this resource include:
Place magnetic bingo chips on the target letters and use a magnetic wand to pick them up
Use tweezers to place pom-poms on the matching letters
Cover the letters with mini erasers or small manipulatives
Color or circle the target letters with crayons, markers, or pencils
Say the letter name and sound each time a target letter is found
Prep Tip
Print the letter page you want students to use. For reusable practice, place the page in a dry-erase pocket or laminate it. For a one-time activity, students can color, circle, or mark the target letters directly on the page.
Physical materials such as magnetic bingo chips, magnetic wands, tweezers, pom-poms, mini erasers, manipulatives, crayons, markers, pencils, dry-erase pockets, or laminating supplies are not included.
