Description

Color by Letter gives children a simple, visual way to practice identifying uppercase and lowercase letters.

Each half-page activity focuses on one letter of the alphabet. Students look at the uppercase and lowercase versions of the letter, use the color code to color each form, and connect the letter to a matching picture, such as A for apple, B for bear, or C for cupcake.

This resource includes a black-and-white version that allows children to choose their own colors, as well as a version with pre-colored crayons to guide students on which color to use for uppercase and lowercase letters.

Use these pages during letter introductions, alphabet review, multisensory letter tables, literacy centers, small group instruction, morning work, or send-home practice.

How to Use

Choose the letter page you want students to practice.

Introduce the letter name, letter sound, uppercase form, lowercase form, and matching illustration.

Students use the color code to color the uppercase and lowercase letters. The pre-colored crayon version gives students a visual guide for which color to use, while the black-and-white version allows for more choice and creativity.

As students color, encourage them to say the letter name, letter sound, and picture word aloud.

Use the pages during letter introductions, multisensory letter tables, literacy centers, small groups, morning work, or send-home alphabet practice.

Prep Tip
