Kicking Off the School Year with Jess's Top 5 Tips! πβ¨
Hello, wonderful educators!
It's Jess here from Preschool Vibes. If you've been in the world of preschool teaching for even a minute, you know that starting a new school year is a mix of exhilaration, nerves, and a dash of "Oh my, what have I signed up for?!" feelings.
With 15 years of navigating preschool classrooms, and being the chief commander at home for my own five kiddos, I've certainly experienced the rollercoaster that is the beginning of a school year. That's why I've put together my top 5 tips to help make your launch into this academic year as smooth as possible!
1. Embrace the Chaos:
Starting a new year means new faces, new personalities, and new dynamics. And yes, it might feel like you're trying to herd cats sometimes! But remember, every moment, even the chaotic ones, are opportunities for learning (for you and the kiddos). It's all a part of the beautiful journey of teaching.
2. Consistency is Key:
Children feel safest and most confident when they know what to expect. So, even amidst the inevitable unpredictability, maintaining a consistent routine is crucial. It creates a comforting rhythm that guides them through their day.
3. Celebrate Small Wins:
Found a stray crayon under a desk instead of a wall mural at the end of the day? That's a win! It's essential to celebrate these little victories. Not only does it boost your spirits, but it reinforces positive behaviors in your students.
4. Mix Learning with Play:
At the heart of preschool teaching is the principle that learning and play are inseparable. Use engaging activities, games, and stories to introduce and reinforce academic concepts. It's the best way to ensure those lessons stick!
5. Prepare for the Unexpected:
That random Tuesday when everything seems to go sideways? We've all been there. Always have backup plans and activities ready to pull out of your teacher toolkit for those just-in-case moments.
Wishing you a year full of wonder, discovery, and countless heartwarming moments!
Happy teaching,
Jess π
