Sense of Smell Jars: A Sensory Experience for Young Learners 🍋🌹🍫
Unveil the fascinating world of scents to your preschoolers with our "Sense of Smell Jars" activity pack. This engaging resource introduces children to a range of 18 different scents—everything from lemon and lavender to chocolate and pine.
What You Get:
Half-Sheet Scent Cards: Cards representing each of the 18 scents, perfect for students to match with the jars.
Mini Labels: Clearly labeled tags to affix to the bottom of each smell jar, so you always know what's what.
How It Works:
Select Your Container: You can use any small plastic container with a lid for this project—salt shakers, old film tubes, or even tiny jars.
Prepare for Scent: Poke holes in the container lids to let the scent escape.
Add the Label: Stick the mini labels on the bottom of the jars to keep track of the scents.
Soak a Cotton Ball: Place a cotton ball in each container and add the chosen scent.
Smell and Match: Students can then smell the jars and match the scent with the corresponding half-sheet cards.
Customize to Your Needs: Don't feel like you have to use all 18 scents; we've simply provided a wide variety for you to choose from. Typically, 8-10 scents are more than enough to keep the young ones engaged and guessing.
