Center Name Spots & Name Tags
Quick Answer
Center Name Spots & Name Tags is a simple classroom management resource that helps children independently choose a center while limiting the number of students in each area. This visual system uses center name spot pages and editable student name tags to support responsibility, independence, and smoother center transitions.
Description
Center Name Spots & Name Tags gives you an easy way to manage how many children are playing in each center without constantly directing every choice yourself.
Each center page includes a set number of open spots. Children choose a center, place their name tag on an open spot, and begin playing. When all of the spots are filled, that center is full and children choose another activity.
This system helps children visually understand center limits, make independent choices, and take responsibility for where they are playing. It also helps reduce overcrowding in popular centers and supports smoother transitions during free choice play.
The included Canva template link allows you to edit and customize the student name tags for your own class.

How to Use
Laminate the center name spot pages and student name tags.
Place Velcro dots over the circles on the center pages after laminating.
Add the matching Velcro to the backs of the student name tags.
Choose the center page that matches the number of children you want to allow in each center. Attach the page to a wall, cabinet, shelf, bin, or another visible spot near that center.
As children choose a center, they place their name tag on an open spot. Once all of the spots are filled, the center is full and children choose another activity.
