Question of the Day - Version 2 gives you a meaningful, low-prep way to start each day with connection, conversation, and learning.

This resource includes a wide variety of repetitive, easy-to-read questions paired with visual cards that can be swapped daily. Each question is designed so only one part changes, helping students recognize familiar words, notice print concepts, and begin reading along with the questions more independently.

Students answer by placing their name card under their response, making this routine a simple way to support early literacy, classroom discussion, counting, comparing, data collection, and social participation.

How to Use

Print and laminate the questions and visuals so they can be reused throughout the year.

Display the question and response options in a pocket chart or on a magnetic board as part of your morning routine. Students place their name card to answer the question when they arrive or during group time.

Switch the placement of YES and NO regularly so students have to look closely and read carefully instead of memorizing the side where each answer usually goes.

You can also use tape to create a T-chart and turn student responses into a simple more/less math activity. Count the responses together, compare the groups, and talk about which answer has more, fewer, or the same.

Prep Tip

Print and laminate the question cards, response visuals, and name cards for repeated use. Store the cards by category so you can quickly switch the question each day without searching through the full set.
