How to Use

Print, cut, and laminate the sentence pieces if you want to reuse them.

Begin by modeling one sentence for the class. Show students how each word has a place and how the sentence is built from left to right.

Then give individual word or picture pieces to students. Invite them one at a time to add their piece to the sentence.

After the sentence is complete, read it together as a class. Point to each word as you read so children can see that sentences are read from left to right and that each word carries meaning.

Repeat with different farm animal picture pieces to build new sentences using the same predictable structure.
