Fix the Letter: Play-Doh Mats

Roll, bend, and repair! Children use Play-Doh to add the missing line or curve to a capital letter. Each mat includes a small completed-letter model to help children notice what is missing and shape the dough to finish it.

How to Use
Print the mats, cut each page in half, and laminate—or place a full sheet in a reusable pocket. Offer a mat and a small amount of Play-Doh. Name the letter, compare it with the model, and roll a big or little line. Bend it into a curve when needed, then press it into the missing space.
Start with familiar letters and missing straight lines. Provide ready-rolled dough when children need help getting started. Remove the dough and reuse the mats during letter-table activities, small groups, or independent practice.
Why It Works
Children look closely at letter shapes while using the words big line, little line, big curve, and little curve. Rolling, bending, and pressing the dough gives their hands and fingers purposeful practice as they repair each letter.
