Science Center Posters
Quick Answer
Science Center Posters is a printable preschool science resource for supporting year-round preschool science with visual questions, familiar tool vocabulary, and observation pages. The resource includes picture vocabulary cards, visual prompts, observation sheets, and a teacher’s guide to help you prepare hands-on experiences for your group.
Description
Science Center Posters gives your science area a consistent set of visual prompts even when you are between themed investigations. Children can see themselves as scientists who observe, ask questions, try ideas, and talk about what happened.
The open-ended discovery prompts work with changing collections of materials. Tool cards can stay on a ring for reference, while full-page and half-page displays give you options for your available space.
Use this resource for science centers, small group investigations, classroom theme activities, or homeschool preschool. You can offer one setup at a time and return to familiar activities as children develop new questions.

How to Use
Choose a few posters that fit your current materials and display them at the science table or near a group investigation. Introduce one question at a time and model how to notice, wonder, predict, or test an idea.
Use the tool cards to identify materials children will use, or put them on a ring for choosing and naming tools. Swap discovery prompts as an investigation develops. Offer the half-page observation sheets for children to draw and share what they notice.
Offer the full-page posters for your main display and the two-per-page discovery prompts beside smaller trays. Keep the observation sheets available throughout the year as the materials and themes change.
Why It Works
Familiar picture cues and repeated questions help children recognize the actions involved in investigating. Keeping the same prompts available across different topics supports a consistent approach to noticing, wondering, and testing.
This resource helps:
Create consistent visual support across science topics
Encourage questions and predictions
Connect tools with their names and purposes
Invite children to share ideas through actions, talk, and drawing
Support conversation and observation without requiring written answers
Give teachers flexible visual prompts for different setups
