Problem-Solving Homework
Problem-Solving Homework
Quick Answer
Problem-Solving Homework gives families a simple way to practice working through small problems together. During four short playtimes, children use toys to act out a different problem each time, suggest a solution, and try it. Open-ended questions invite children to decide what to try.
What’s Inside
This 5-page PDF includes:
A teacher cover page with an overview, directions, and Preschool Vibes Standards.
A keep-at-home homework page with four illustrated problems, guided questions, and four practice checkboxes.
A family signature version with the same activity, plus space for the child’s name, date, and family signature.
An optional family strategy reference with 13 strategy choices, familiar illustrations, and titles.
The same strategy reference follows each homework version, making five pages total. The problems include wanting the same toy, a tower falling, wanting different activities, and one bear poking another bear who doesn’t like it.
How to Use
Send home the version that fits your classroom. Families ask, “What’s the problem? What could we try? Did it help?” Children suggest ideas first, then use the strategy reference if needed. Practice a different problem during each playtime and check one box afterward.
The keep-at-home page says, “Keep this page at home and continue practicing. It does not need to be returned.” The signature version asks families to sign and return it after practicing all four problems.
Print the homework and optional reference back-to-back using long-edge flipping, or print them separately.
