Description

Letter Dot Mats make uppercase letter practice hands-on, visual, and easy to use in your preschool or pre-K classroom.

Each mat features one uppercase letter formed with small circles. Students can cover each circle with manipulatives, roll small Play-Doh balls, use pom-poms or mini erasers, or mark each circle with a dot marker while practicing the letter name and sound.

This resource gives children a multisensory way to interact with letters while also building fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and early literacy confidence.

What’s Inside

This resource includes:

  • 26 uppercase letter mats

  • Letter mats for A-Z

  • Each uppercase letter formed from small circles

  • The same letter shown inside each circle for repeated visual recognition

How to Use

Print the letter mat you want students to practice.

Have students cover each circle using manipulatives such as bingo chips, Play-Doh balls, pom-poms, mini erasers, or other small classroom items.

Students can also use dot markers to mark each circle while saying the letter name and sound aloud.

Print on regular paper for a one-time color, cover, or dot activity that students can take home. Print on cardstock and laminate if you want to reuse the mats throughout the year.

Use these mats during literacy centers, small group instruction, morning tubs, fine motor practice, alphabet review, or independent work.

Prep Tip

For reusable mats, print on cardstock and laminate. Store the mats in alphabetical order in a binder, folder, or bin so you can quickly pull the letter you need.

Physical materials such as bingo chips, Play-Doh, pom-poms, mini erasers, dot markers, or other manipulatives are not included.

Why It Works

Letter Dot Mats help children practice letters through touch, repetition, and fine motor movement.

Instead of only looking at a letter, students are covering, dotting, building, or tracing the shape of the letter with their hands. This helps make letter learning more active and engaging while supporting early literacy and fine motor development.

This resource helps:

  • Strengthen uppercase letter recognition

  • Support letter-sound awareness

  • Build fine motor control

  • Encourage hand-eye coordination

  • Add multisensory practice to alphabet learning

  • Support repetition through simple, focused letter work

  • Provide flexible options for independent work, small groups, or literacy centers
