Chore Homework
Chore Homework
Quick Answer
Bring classroom jobs home with a family handout children can put to use at the next meal or during cleanup. Families choose one chore and practice it five times. A child can help with dishes by washing the cups or putting clean bowls away as the family unloads the dishwasher. Each time they try, they have a chance to learn the steps and do more of the job themselves.
What's Inside
A 3-page printable PDF for US Letter paper (8.5 × 11 inches)
A teacher guide and two family handouts, one to keep at home and one to sign and return
Six illustrated choices for making the bed, wiping the table, sweeping, helping with dishes, putting toys or books away, and helping with laundry
Space to write in a job that fits the family's routine
Five checkboxes and a brief note for families about independence, responsibility, and confidence
How to Use
Model a familiar classroom job, such as putting books away after story time. Send home one handout per family. An adult and child choose a chore together, then check a box each time the child practices that same job. Families using the return version sign and date it after the fifth practice.
