Quick Answer

Shape Hunt Homework gives families a simple, hands-on way to practice recognizing and naming shapes at home. During three short playtimes, children choose a shape, find an example around them, and talk about its sides, corners, or curves. Eight labeled shape pictures and clear directions make it easy to get started.

What’s Inside

This 3-page PDF includes:

  • A teacher cover page with directions and the Preschool Vibes Standard.

  • A keep-at-home family page with eight labeled shapes, three activity steps, a “Did You Know?” paragraph about early geometry, and three playtime checkboxes.

  • A second family page with the same activity and a tear-off return slip for the child’s name, date, and family signature.

Shapes included: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, rhombus, oval, heart, and star.

How to Use

Send home the version that fits your classroom. Circle a shape to match a child’s learning goal, or let families choose one for each playtime. They can repeat the same shape; finding all eight is not required.

Families look for shapes on flat surfaces, in outlines, and in pictures around their home. Children might notice the rectangular front of a book or the round edge of a lid. They trace the outline with a finger, name the shape, and talk about what they notice.

Check one box after each playtime. The keep-at-home page explains that it does not need to be returned. With the return-slip version, families sign, cut off, and return only the bottom slip after three playtimes. They keep the activity page and its “Did You Know?” information for continued practice.
