Sorting Homework
Sorting Homework
Quick Answer
Sorting Homework gives families a simple way to practice early math with objects they already have. During three short playtimes, children sort clean spoons and forks into groups and explain what belongs together. The family page includes clear steps and questions parents can use while they play.
What’s Inside
This 3-page PDF includes:
A teacher cover page with directions and the Preschool Vibes Standard.
A keep-at-home family page with an illustrated sorting example, three activity steps, a “Did You Know?” paragraph, and three playtime checkboxes.
A family signature version with the same activity, plus space for the child’s name, date, and family signature.
How to Use
Send home the version that fits your classroom. Families gather a few clean spoons and forks, start two groups, and invite their child to sort the rest. Prompts such as “Where does this one belong?” and “Why do these go together?” help children explain their choices.
All three steps are part of one activity. Families can repeat the same sort as often as needed. For another playtime, the page suggests sorting blocks in two colors or clean socks in two clearly different sizes.
Check one box after each playtime. The keep-at-home page tells families to keep practicing and explains that it does not need to be returned. The signature version asks families to sign and return it after three playtimes.
Preschool Vibes Standard
